Question BWC - IMAP - Duplicate Emails

Please Login to Remove!

I have search for duplicate email threads and none seem to be exactly what I experience. I have narrowed it down to the exact cause.

I use the BWC to configure to an IMAP account (which is also my Outlook 2003 hosted account). When an email comes in, the polling picks up the email from the IMAP connection and sends to my BB with success.

If I reply to the message, flag the message, or open then mark unread, it somehow is triggered as a new message and BB IMAP polling picks it up again! So as I reply to emails in outlook, my BB starts getting a duplicate email for each one I reply to.

Has anyone seen this? I believe it wouldn't happen with POP, but then sync'ing my sent items wouldn't happen either. Additionally POP is marking my emails "read" when it polls, and IMAP is not.

I have this same issue, for almost a year now. I manage almost 40 of these devices at my firm, but only a handful have this problem. T-Mobile and RIM seem to be at a loss.

In the BWC be sure the email account to have setup to interface with your Outlook account has its post set to IMAP (port 143). This may help.

I called TMO, directed to RIM, and they told me it is a older implementation of IMAP on my Outlook host. Says there is nothing TMO or RIM can do about it.

Did you fix the problem? I am having the same issue with two blackberry's - one on Cingular and one on Verizon.
