just got a 7105t from T-Mobile and all has been great so far, except I have no "BlackBerry Desktop"

I just installed the BB Desktop Manager and when I use the Application Loader, the software doesn't find any system software installed...seems very strange to me. I get a list where everything is checked and when I click "next"

"No applications ot install." and it goes to "finish" I am trying to load this on to a laptop running Windows 2000. Any ides?

Did you download the latest 'firmware' from t-mobile? I had the same issue until I had downloaded and installed the latest version from t-mobile. Theres a thread around here somewhere with excellent details. I'll see if I can find it.

Sounds like you are confused. The application loader is part of bb desktop. The apps it shows checked are already on your bb that's why there is nothing to install.

Are you saying that when you turn on your BB you have no ICONS like Messages, Browser, Address Book, ETC???

If that is what you mean, yank out the battery, leave it out for about 30 seconds and then put it back in and turn it back on. Your icons should now be there.

If you are talking about "Applications" - there are none (expect for a few standard ones) - you have to install ones yourself through your Blackberry Desktop.

I think a little clarity is needed on this one. I'm not quite sure (and i think the others here are with me) on exactly what the problem is. You state that you have no "Blackberry desktop", but I don't know what that means. Is it:

#1 - Something is missing on the 7105t unit:
The 7105t should have come pre-loaded and ready to go from T-Mobile (to verify this, you should have about 9 or 10 icons on the home screen of the device when you turn it on).

#2 - Something is missing on your PC:
The only additional software needed to be functional is the Desktop Manager, which you've obviously installed. If you're looking for something like a PALM Desktop (common with PDA's), then you won't find it, because it's not used with Blackberry.

There is no access to data like address book etc. therefore I can't add or edit data via PC. In fact I can't even find the data on my PC. Am I missing something or is the desktop just 3 icons?

Sounds like you come from the Palm world. BB desktop manager is a conduit only. It interfaces with your MAPI based email/contact/calendar program, most commonly MS Outlook. Look at it as the Palm's HotSync Manager but without the Palm desktop.

Sounds like it is loaded perfectly. You are looking for a Palm Desktop like program. There is none. Intellisync (one of the three icons) allows you to sync data from your favorite PIM (Outlook, Act, Organizer) to the BB.
