I'm on the cingular service. All of the sudden yesterday my phone started acting weird. Some txt's wouldn't go through at all. Now it just keeps saying error cann't send or "protocall" error.

I have the 8700c - Did blackberry get deactivated or am I having some service issues?

What do I do? Thanks.

What does it show on the top section of the BB? Is it at EDGE or GSM or something else. Does it show "Data Connection Refused".

In any event, pop the battery out, wait 5 seconds and put it back in. See if that helpd.

BlackBerry did not get deactivated.

Sounds like service problems, espically since I'm posting from my BB on cingular. Have you tried a hot reboot, not a cold reboot? If not, do so.

Hope this helps.

Should have clarified this
Hot reboot = ALT+CAP+DEL

Cold reboot = remove and reinstall battery, waiting for 15-30 sec

My 8700c started to behave rather peculiar yesterday as well. I'm on BIS, not BES, and have both the Cingular Browser and Internet Browser. My email still functions but the 8700 will not connect to the Internet via the Internet Browser. The funny thing is that Cingular browser still functions. I've taken the battery out several times and waited and waited and it is still acting this way. I'm in the DC Metro area. I'm wondering if anyone else in my area is experiencing anything similar? At any rate, a call to Cingular tomorrow will be in order.
