Wink Workaround for Desktop Redirector Users

Please Login to Remove!

I'm using my blackberry using Desktop Redirector not BES and wondering if I'm going to be affected by possible shutdown. The only workaround i see on BB site is for people who are using Blackberry Enterprise Server nothing is for the people who are using Desktop Redirector like me. Any idea if need to do, if anything.

thanx a million for replies.

According to the documentation at www.blackberry.com/go/workaround, yes, you would still need to install *something* on your handheld.

DOH! My bad. So BIS users would have any necessary changes made at their carrier's server, right?

Not so...I'm afraid. Any Blackberry device, including those on BIS/BWC and/or BES, would be affected by an injunction. Including foreign visitors to the U.S.

The only exception is government and public safety users.

OK so if all BB users are affected by the injunction what is the potential fix for the BB users who rely on Desktop Redirector for their email.

If you're using redirector, then you're a BWC user. And this will involve installing the workaround OS on your device, which will be provided by RIM (should this be necessary). No changes to redirector are necessary, as it's simply "redirecting" your email to the weblclient address.
