Default Data plan only question???

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I have the data plan on my blackberry but they assigned me a number because they have to they said. Is there any way I can block the phone from making outgoing calls and maybe recieving them as well.

DOwnload the latest version of the handheld OS for your BB from your carrier and execute the downloaded file.

Locate and Delete VENDOR.XML on the C: drive of your PC.

Start Application Loader - it should ask if you want to upgrade your BB.

Go through the list of applications and remove the check mark next to the Phone application. Then you will have no phone functionality on your BB. That should work.

I have data only as well but still have the associated phone number with the BB itself. I turned off all notifications for incoming calls, I had Verizon turn off the voice mail (cuz of wrong numbers and I had gotten messages from people I didnt know and have never given the number out) and never have had an issue with mistakenly placing a outgoing call.

I would ask your provider to block all incoming/outgoing calls

but what i find bizarre, is if you have a data-only plan, there shouldnt be any calls, since you don't have a phone plan (minutes)

unless it's a bundled plan (minutes and data)
