Default question re:policy avoidance

Please Login to Remove!

We're going to be switching to BES 4.1 soon and implementing policies to remove SMS and PIN messages.

I'm just curious if it would be possible to re-push the service book policy from the Service Provider and overwrite any settings pushed from the BES Admins.

Also, if PIN is disabled, I'm assuming bberry messanger goes the way of the dodo too.

Service Provider Service book is different from BES so pushing the BIS service book will not overwrite your BES policy. Yes, if PIN is disabled, BB messenger will not work. It is just a nice front end for pin to pin messenging.

Do you know that PIN and SMS messages can be logged on the BES server starting in BES 4.1?

Why would you remove PIN messaging? That is just stupid.

Not really. A lot of companies don't want PIN to PIN because they can't archive/monitor it. It is outside their messaging policies. Now, as was stated with 4.1 this can be archived now so it won't be the issue it is now for lots of companies.

Sarbanes Oxley. Most business related conversations (including Pin to Pin and IM) must be logged and recorded. Blame Congress, not the companies that implement the policies.

I don't want to sound like an arse or anything, but why not ask your Information Security or Systems Administration groups this question? By avoiding the security policies they have in place for you to abide by, you are jeopardizing your company in a legal manner (based on their interpretation of various compliancy laws).

And let's not mention that they CAN view who is attempting to avoid policy (or atleast having some sort of handheld/network issue) by looking at the status. It's honestly a 1-3 second action to view that information.
