I'll reply to this poll for myself too:

1. I love the "always-on" feel of IM on BlackBerry. Being able to run Verichat all the time on the BlackBerry 24/7 and use IM like a telephone or email.
2. I have mainly used WebMessenger and Verichat, which are the two best ones in my opinion. I briefly tested out IM+ and found it to be relatively poor. BlackChat is nice but very limited, only working on the ICQ network.
3. I use mainly Verichat now. I was using WebMessenger until Verichat became mature enough.
4. Yes it is better! Why? Because the BlackBerry thumb keyboard is very good, and the always-on capability makes it better on the BlackBerry for my own usage. Running the software in the background for 100 hours nonstop without needing to run to a power outlet at the end of the day.

(Note: I'm also a Verichat beta tester -- A new version just came out that is much better than older versions of Verichat -- please see "New Verichat 1.78 Download - No BES Needed - TMobile Works". It's even vastly superior to the IM chat software built into the 7100t / 7100r / 7100v / 7100x which is not nearly as good as Verichat.)

1. Always on ... Having constant easy contact to my work and friends right on my hip, is truely amazing.

2. Verichat & Web Messenger

3. Verichat, supior interface and reliablitity. Seems like its part of the OS.

4. I also have used IM on past cell phones and Varichat on my Palm t3 with a Wireless card. The Blackberry is so much simpler to use. With Varichat it really emulates IM on a PC. Thumb keyboard makes it a breeze to respond (Why I ever thought Graffiti was the way of the future I'll never know.)

1. What do you like the most about IM on BlackBerry?

MM - Always on is great however how do you get it to buzz you (vibrate/ring) for incoming messages?

2. Which IM Software Have You Tried?

MM - Verichat, WebMessenger install did not work. Verichat worked fight after install so I decided to use it. Not very analytical but I don't have time to mess with something to get it to work. Once again I understand the error in my logic however I'm getting the new Verizon model on Tuesday which will probably sport a built in client.

3. Which IM Software Do You Currently Use?

MM - MSN integrates into Sharepoint and Exchange 2003 so presence information is shown though out organization. I need to test to see if I'm on Verichat whether or not it will pass that info on. So 3rd party apps like Trillion don't. Only other question is how do people use IM accounts? Do you have two PC and BB or just one? I'm in and out of meetings all day and it's hard to manage loginning in and out in both locations however someone may not know which to use when...

4. Do you find IM experience on BlackBerry superior to other handheld devices? Why or Why Not?

MM - Use MSN on Smartphone. Obiviously much more useful on BB due to full QWERTY keyboard.

1. I'll go with the flow and say always-on capabilities. A BIG plus when you're constantly out.

2. Just about all of them, but I do like verichat the best.

3. Verichat again

4. Yes, I've tried them on kyocera 7135, treo's and other mobile phones, and with the full QWERTY keyboard and always on it is much more superior to other devices.

NOTE: I wish one of these guys would develop some corporate IM support for their products. A GroupWise Messenger client would greatly enhance our organization.
