Default Looking to buy 7130e without retail pricing?

Please Login to Remove!

Good evening,
Have been a long time Verizon corporate customer and decided that I needed better data contact with my office for email and scheduling needs. I called Verizon to see what the 7130e would cost me and the corporate agent informed me that I had to pay full retail of $419.99 because I wasn't due for a promotional rate until August. I was wondering if there are other places to buy the phone where it might be less expensive or if there is a way to approach Verizon about selling it for less. I have been a good customer and will be spending more per month on a phone and data plan that I am with my phone right now. Short of ebay is there a way to get this phone for less than retail?

thanks

Tom

Interesting. I live in Chicago-land, but am in Cincinnati, Ohio for a few days and the local location said they'd give me the new 7130e for $199, which included the $100 promotional rebate as long as I added the data program to my package. I'm not due until December of this year, but they said they'd give me the early upgrade now.

I'm going on Sunday to do it.

try going to one of your local verizon stores...the people there seem to have a way of throwing in rebates and discounts. Over the phone they don't give you an inch - be it sales or even simple account management. Anyway, I bought my dad a 7130 for christmas - he was due for an upgrade. The upgrade was equivalent to $100 off the price of his next phone. The sales guy flat out told me that their "policy" said that I could either pay $299 minus the promo rebate OR $299 minus the $100 upgrade credit, so I was paying $199 either way. Yet, when I finally bought it, I walked out paying only $99. The guy bascially broke all protocol and gave me the promo rebate AND the upgrade credit. When he first proposed this "offer" I went to a few different stores (San Jose, CA) to see if this guy's deal was for real. At each store, the sales reps had some gesture to lower the price, though none other so drastically.

Good evening,
Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. I always, it seemed, had better luck calling the 800 # and dealing with customer service directly...that is until this instance. Will be going into a local Verizon store tomorrow and see what happens. Any words of wisdom that I should be saying to them to get them to give me the promotional rate?

Thanks

Tom
