Just got this from my Cingular rep:

"I am sorry to say but at this time, there is major network outage effecting "Blue" users nationwide.
It is currently affecting legacy BLUE (AT&T Wireless) devices on a National level as the users are receiving a "SOS" message.

This is getting major attention with in Cingular and is being worked at the highest level.

Ticket # TT26395986.

Unfortunately this is all the information I have at this moment.

No ETA has been provided at this time.

I will send an update to you as soon as I know more information or have resolution.

I am also having the same problem... When I called Cingualr they had me on the phone for an hour trying to figure out what was wrong... They are now going to send me a new SIM Card.

My blackberry has been terrible with signal for the last few weeks but only today I started receiving the SOS signal...

Does anyone else still have this problem?

I am stuck. New 7130 e user . after ten days my sms does not show up as an option to use on my wheel when i activate a contact to call . tried tech support, no help, anyone ? please , i need sms . glad to be in the forum ,b.

Please don't hijack threads. The first two posters are having issues with the old AT&T network, now run by Cingular.

You have a 7130e, which is a Verizon or Sprint account.

Do the CDMA BlackBerrys offer SMS? That's part of the GSM specification.

^^ SMS is not specific to GPRS/EDGE devices--in fact it works quite well on CDMA devices.
