I bought a recon Blackberry 7290 branded to Vodafone but unlocked, from a company on ebay however it appears to be the enterprise edition, is there any way to change it to the internet edition or do i have to send it back to them.
You will need to speak to your carrier to get it provisioned for BIS instead of BES.
They will then provide you with an internet mail account where you can integrate your POP3 mail
Trouble is my network is Orange UK and they dont seem to have a clue about Blackberry. After several hours on the phone to them they told me allsorts of rubbish. Crux of it is they only support for Enterprise, being a 1 man band i dont need the hassel or expence of any additional software.
does anyone know if it will work on say Vodaphone pay as you go as this might solve the problem, although i would have to carry 2 handsets 1 for calls and 1 for email
No it will not work on a Pre-Paid plan. If you want more info on this search, Pre-Paid has been talekd about a lot. I have talk to Orange CH before and you may just want to go in to a store and ask for a SIM with your phone and a Blackberry plan on it. Then ask them to configure a BIS account for you.
I know a bloke who comes into our local, he's had a BB on T imobile for 6 months and has only just discovered it has a browser..... so he's not going to be the best one to ask. I'll pop into the Orange shop at the weekend
