I recently purchased a blackberry 7100v off ebay under the (what I now think is mistaken) impression that even though I cannot use the blackberry push email service I should be able to download emails through pop3 and GPRS.

I have a data enabled O2 sim card and the blackberry connects to the GPRS network but I have no browser services and no message services. Is there any way I can achieve my aim of receiving and sending emails on this device? Or do I just have a pretty phone that lets me send text messages faster?

As far as I know you should be able to use the Blackberry Internet Service through your provider.

You need a BlackBerry Data Plan, no BlackBerry Data Plan no email, web etc. no way around it. Contact your carrier O2 and have a BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.

Do you have a BlackBerry data plan? A typical smart-phone data plan is different. You MUST have a BlackBerry data plan. As far as sending text messages faster, no its not any faster sending SMS messages then a typical smart-phone.

No, I don't have a blackberry plan and I can't get one apparently as I don't have a business account with O2.

Then you should return the Blackberry. It won't work for you without a Blackberry Data Plan.

I can't return is as it was from Ebay. I do like the other functions on it though but I will investigate the other options I have available.
