Ok here a complete level-by-level guide for as far as I am familiar. I have made it past Level 17 a few times but not often enough to clearly remember the strategy. As Flyingwarner says these levels require threading and have few bricks or eggs per level. Based on the posts here and my experience I would say Flyingwarner is the only score I believe. And I agree with all of his tips with the following exception:
4 Pick up Laser when you can but use it sparingly - you only get 5 points for destroying a brick with Laser v 10 points for hitting it with the ball. Actually laser is very useful I always get it. It takes two laser bullet hits to equal one ball hit so point values are the same. And a single laser bullet will release egg without destroying brick (very useful if it is last brick)
I also almost always clear lower bricks first and wait for ball to speed up and bricks to start dropping before sending ball to upper levels to bounce back and forth.
Level 1 There are 2 eggs on this level located on the upper right and left side. I slide the ball up the right side first, and clear right side bricks then aim for upper left. A good score here is 220-340 (if you get gun egg).
Level 2 Eggs located on second row from top. As with level 1 try to get upper bricks first to gain eggs, then lower bricks. Score: 700.
Level 3 I shoot ball up right side to get egg at top. Other egg in middle left side. Clear lower bricks early before they start to drop. Score: 1200
Level 4 Now you must clear lower bricks first as more bricks are full bricks that require 3 hits to clear. Eggs in center bottom brick and upper right side. Score: 2000
Level 5 The dreaded single silver brick. Hope for a gun to clear it. I try to bounce ball off right side wall to go just above silver brick and into circle to bounce around. Otherwise, focus on lower bricks then clearing one side completely so you can use top rebound when ball speeds up. Score: 2800
Level 6 Clear lower row first, then clear one brick in second row and try to bounce ball between 2nd and 3rd rows to clear quickly. Eggs are in the second row. Score: 3500.
Level 7 I break the extreme side bricks first. Eggs are in lower red center brick and two upper bricks on each side of the U shape. Score: 4000
Level 8 I try to clear the right side diagonal line first, the focus on the left side of the second diagonal row, to clear lowest bricks before speed up and bricks dropping. No eggs on this level. Score: 4500.
Level 9 Again I focus on clearly lower rows first, then row 2 of the solid red bricks, finally bounce off top to rapid clear. Eggs on both upper sides. Score : 5400
Level 10 - Again I focus on clearly lower rows first, then the sides of the O shape before allowing ball to bounce off top to rapid clear. Another level with no eggs to help. Score: 5900
Level 11 Large wall of bricks so focusing on the lower rows is a must and focus more on the center column of red bricks. When bricks start to drop, bounce off top to rapid clear. Eggs in the top row and upper sides. Laser here is extremely useful. Score 7,000
Level 12 Another dreaded level for me. Three spaced sliver bricks that can be brutal when ball speeds up and bricks drop. I focus on clearing bricks on lower rows, especially bricks in front of silver bricks, I try to avoid eggs until those are clear, then hope I get a gun to blow all three silver bricks away. Eggs high on sides and upper rows. Score: 8200
Level 13 L Shaped silver bricks. This can be an easy level if you aim the ball correctly. I click the wheel (3 clicks of thumbwheel) to left to aim ball to just miss the corner of the L, this sends ball into upper area and should clear all bricks without coming out. Another egg-less level. Score: 8600
Level 14 Many spaced silver bricks. My strategy is to hit the left most of the two lower bricks on the right side and gain egg. Two other eggs here, one in the right most of the two lower bricks on the right side and another on the upper left side. Clearing lower bricks helps get past this difficult level. Score: 9100
Level 15 The silver brick cross. Two eggs one each in the bottom brick of the two upper quadrants. I try to get those early. If you get gun, use on the lower center column of silver bricks. Score: 9300
Level 16 The dreaded silver U. You need to have built up multiple lives to survive here. FYI the most lives I have seen possible (along with the 3 you start with) is additional 10 lives so the most you will have is 13 lives. People who have posted they had 22 lives at this level are just plain lying. I agree with Flyingwarner strategy here, hope for catch or long. The egg is in the center to brick. If you get the gun clear center 3 bricks on bottom U so when you die you can work up for the bottom. I try to send the ball up almost vertical so that it stays in the U as long as possible to clear most bricks per try. Score 9900
Level 17 A horizontal tunnel of silver bricks lead to bricks in upper left corner. I bounce ball off right wall into tunnel. The ball will come back down tunnel, watch angle of bounce to anticipate where you need to be to return ball. If you can send it back after bricks have dropped you should clear easily. Score: 10000+

I had this very same problem, for months! Until yesterday! I finally broke 10,000, and since then I am still playing - I completed all the levels and restarted from level 1 again, and I currently have 4 lives left and 23,840 points! I can't believe it. I only play a few minutes at a time now, I don't want to ruin it.

OK maybe posting level by level tips helped my Brickbreaker karma, cause after being stuck on 12,380 top score for weeks, yesterday after posting my tips, I took 8 lives into level 16 and got the catch egg and made it past 16 with all 8 lives. Proceeded on to level 29 and a new top score of 15,710. I made lot of mistakes in levels 23-29 which I had never seen before. Perhaps completing all 34 levels really is possible.

It is - like I said, I completed them all on that streak I had going, then it starts over. One cool thing I noticed about being in the second round of the levels - the eggs do not cancel out each other! I had the laser and then caught a life, and the laser stayed! I didn;t get too much time to test it, because, to my dismay, when I did a rest by removing the battery for another reason - THE CURRENT GAME IN PROGRESS WAS WIPED OUT!!! I almost died when I realized it, after all the effort - nothing! And my measly 9,840 previous high score is back again! DAMN BRICKBREAKER!

22,010 in what I assume is 4.0. after level 34 you start over but the bricks start dropping down with the first hit. i got 6-7 levels into the second round. if you don't get the catch, long or gun on that damn U level (16?), it'll take 5-6 lives or more (multiple worked well for me a few times if timed right), and then you need to get into that pattern where the ball stays in the U and takes everything out on its own.

I'm a reporter with the Ottawa Citizen, working on a story about Brick Breaker culture and why the game is so addictive. I'm wondering exactly what it is about the game that appeals to people likely to use Blackberries: executives, politicians, journalists and others with high-stress, demanding professions. If you have any insights or interesting anecdotes about your own Brick Breaker obsession, you can contact me at ![[email address]](http://www.blackberryforums.com/?emailimage=df4f488e20c5f3e53bdc755955a09400) . Thanks!

Hey bassing1, you're not the only one with time on his/her hands. I just passed 100,000 with 17 lives left (I took a beating on the last loop). Still haven't managed to pass 30 lives at any given time.

Brickbreaker - the Bane -
04-20-2006, 10:31 AM
Hey Folks,
Thanks for all your helpful posts regarding BrickBreaker. I've been looking for this forum for over a year and it's good to finally find that elite group of people who have chosen to rise to the challenge that is Brick Breaker.
I have been playing this game for about 1.5 years now and the best I have done is level 30 of 34 with a high score of 15035. A respectable amount but it annoys the hell out of me that I can't get to level 34. I sympathize with those of you stuck on the U level (level 16, I think.) Catch, long, and rocket is the only way to beat it unless you have plenty of lives.
One quick sob story: I reached the U level the other day with 15 lives and got the catch, finishing the level with no lost lives. I was in perfect position for a great run. However, sadly, I let the next level drop on me. Once it had dropped I almost lost all my lives getting out of the level. I barely squeeked out with four lives, only to lose them in the next few rounds.
I'm curious, what happens after level 34? I assumed the game ended but it sounds from some of these posts that it repeats back to Level 1. Is this true? If so, does it ever end? Blackberry should give you a medal if you get past Level 34. To continue the maddness after that point is just a mockery.
Elec.

just a quick reply to your question........yes, after you finish with the first round of 34 levels, it continues......however, at an accelerated rate of speed and each "board" dropping like an anvil down on you..........if, IF you can get past the second go around (34 levels all over again), the game slows down to the rate of the first 34 levels, but the "boards" drop down after every hit on the paddle.....by the time you get through the second round of 34, you pretty much have mastered the game.....my score right now is over 300,000 with just over 30 lives......so, the old addage rings true...practice, practice, practice.....good luck....

Hello.. My high score is 7390
I figured out all the tricks that were stated before.. You need to have over 600 points in level one to even thnk of getting close to this score.. And yes the Gun is the key to high score.
this is the score on the old 3.1 version.. I have the key to level 6 and to level 5.. woo hoo...

Final past level 34 -
05-08-2006, 10:58 AM
Yahoo! After playing this stupid game for over a year I finally got past Level 34. The previous posts are correct. It just starts back at the beginning again. I hate games that never end.
Nevertheless, I have conquered it to my satisfaction and now I can finally move on with my life.

Well, I've owned a blackberry for over a year now, going through quite a few various models. I just got a new 7250 Wednesday and notice the brickbreaker is a little bit different (must have the newest version). Not sure which versions i've been playing but level 16 the U shaped level has always been the screen i hated the most. the last version i played, when i picked up the gun or laser, the bar would turn into a gun or laser. Now with the latest version the bar remains the same and does not turn into a laser/gun (but it still works as one).
Through the last year of being high addicted to this game and fooling my friends and coworkers that i'm reading/writing email and doing work, i think i am a decent brickbreaker player. Here are my observations for the game, considering today i have achieved my best result so far but am resting my fingers before i start back up at it!
If you are a decent player, you should be able to reach fairly consistently to level 16, even if it's with one life left. The key to making it past level 16 is pure a*s LUCK. Either you are able to pick up around 10-15 lives getting to level 16 or you get a 'catch' or 'long' egg. While getting to the infamous level 16, scoring points is nice but the key is to pick up alot of lives on the way. Once you past level 16, it is still no cakewalk. the blocks drop and you are in the same situation as level 16 once you are down as low as it moves.
Previous to today, my highest score was 12850, today I am at level 32 with 10 lives remaining and 16010 points. In making my best ever score so far (which i hope i can post) I have made it because of LUCK. I have gotten the 'catch', 'long' or 'gun' at the right times.
I have never made it to the end, but I am hoping without any unforseen surprises with my current game that i make it to the end and start from the beginning.
I do have to say that I find it hard to believe that anyone can get over 100,000 points. by the time i'm done level 34, i will be lucky to have 20,000 points, and if it is true what people are saying that the ball goes faster and the blocks drop even quicker, I just can't believe that you can get those type of scores.
Anyway, that is just my thoughts while i rest my fingers before i start back up. Will post my score once I'm done playing it!!

Well, I just finished my run for a personal best. I made it back to the start with about 11 lives left, it definately gets alot harder as the bricks drop basically on the second hit on the paddle. I made a few stupid mistakes which costed me about 4 lives but was able to have about 12 lives when i reached the infamous Level 16. Well, my luck ran out, i picked up a "wrap" and the game fell apart from there. it didn't take long for the blocks to drop but i was able to clear level 16 with about 4 lives left. I then got to level 17 and the bricks dropped pretty quickly and ended my miracle run. I got 25665 points, i tired submitting it but it would not send. Anyway, i think i might have been able to get to 30,000 points. I was finally able to log in to see the all-time high scores, I am amazed by some of the scores there! at 30,000 points i am in the top 300, that's it... amazing.....
It was a good game i had, it will likely take me another year to get anything close to this now!

Hi, how do you manage to get all these lives. My highscore is 26,220 at level 15 (or 49 as went through all 34 levels and started over again). I focus on staying alive rather than getting points but seem hard to accumulate lots of lives... Pointers highly appreciated. Kenneth the Dane
