I have only had the BB for a month. Have become totally addicted to brickbreaker. My highest score is only 10,030 and have only managed to get past level 16 once, then lost my lifes on the next level.
Any tricks I should know?
My blackberry is a version 8800.

Well, I have never been interested in computer games at all, but for some reason this brickbreaker is quite fun and addictive!!
I am absolutely hopeless at arcade games and my highest score at Brickbreaker is only 2890 LOL but I think it is a good piece of software!!
Does anyone know the name of the company who developed it and is it the same games on the latest Blackberry devices as it is on my very old 7230 (UK Vodafone)?
Thanks
Andrew

134,385 and climbing -
08-08-2007, 03:21 AM
I read a post many posts back that some guy had hit over 200,000 and I thought it was total B.S. Then I realized how he did it, as I've just climbed over 134,000 and still have 31 lives and growing.
Once you clear all stages, twice, the ball remains in 'slow' mode. If you have enough skill to get to this level, you will rarely die in slow mode, and just keep racking up lives. Unfortunately, I think you have to play for about a year to get to this level, which is clearly one hell of a waste of time.
I've found that the secret to get to this level is to keep restarting the game until you get one a roll where you are getting lots of 'life'. Life is the critical factor. If you do not have at least 5 lives by the end of the 3rd level then restart the game. If the game gives you 'life' during this stage, it will continue like this thru the rest of the game. You can need 10 or more at level 16, assuming you don't get a 'catch' or 'long' at this stage. Even if you don't, here is the trick. Once the 'U' has dropped all the way down, start the ball to the right. You should be able to get it over, but it will come all the way down to the left side. Place your paddle 2 clicks from the far left edge. Once the ball hits your paddle, quickly move it 1 click back to the left. This will push the ball into a controlable mode, and you can slowly chip away at the bricks.
good luck!

Took me about 2 weeks to discover the game but have been playing constant for about 3 months now. Highest score is 28,555. Got past level 16 on second round but died a couple levels later. Did not know at the time how close I was to getting to easy street. Have tried to execute cheat to skip levels but have had no success. Have flung BB across room couple of times. Amazed that it keeps ticking. Please help me walk away I can't seem to crack the ceiling.

Brick - Back - Ball - Breaker.... -
08-15-2007, 05:09 PM
I'm not a video game freak by any stretch, and only play Brick-Breaker when there's no other entertainment option. Haven't broken 10K yet, but top score is 9460. However, it was excruciatingly difficult to get there, and if you don't have about 7 lives by stage 8 or 9, you're finished.

Thanks, finally some information that's helpful. Knowing that after you go past all levels twice and it stays on slow mode makes getting these very high scores obtainable.

and does anyone try to do any trick shots...like if the ball is going one way...spin the ball and try to bounce it the opposite way off the paddle?
or get the ball going really fast around the corners of the box...

How the he** did the dude score 1.6 million points? That's averaging over 20K per round... Unless he somehow went over 80 rounds. My highest round ever was like 18,600. What am I missing?

The trick lies in what I said above. I recently got up to 120,440 with 20 lives left and started a new game cause I was getting bored.

I'm afraid you missed the point I was trying to make. The game supposedly ends after 79 or 80 rounds. The highest round I've ever had was shy of 19K. I don't understand how it's possible to get much more than that per round. This guy had to AVERAGE over 20K per round to score in excess of 1.6 million. How?
(For the record, I've had a couple games over 100K with many lives remaining. One over 300K. Unfortunately, they ended prematurely by the ball bouncing off the screen.)

Just found this forum after a wild weekend of booze, bi-atches, nightlife and one hell of a brickbreaker bender. Been playing on and off for 4 days, and currently at 108,452, with 32 lives left. Mad respect for those of you to top the hundred thousand mark.
For those of you bragging about 20,000 or some crap, get the hell off this forum and work on your game!
Chuch, fools!

Is there a URL for the leaderboard you can get to from a pc instead of the phone itself?

No, the high scores are not necessarily attained through any cheat functions. (Though I am suspect of the current top score of 1.6 million.) The game has 34 levels. Once you get through the 34 levels the first time, the second round is a little bit more difficult as the ball tends to move faster and the bricks drop down faster. Once you get through the 34 levels the second time, the ball tends to stay slower (though will still speed up occassionally -- contrary to what others here have stated). Then you can continue to play until the game ends during the 80th level.
After you have been playing awhile, it is not difficult to average over 17,000 points during a round of 34 levels. Multiply 17K by 79 rounds and you get 1.34 million points.
It's not rocket science, but it does take dedication. 79 or 80 rounds of play will take many, many hours on your BlackBerry, no matter how fast you play. The most challenging part is getting good enough to get through two full rounds of play with lives left over. Once you do that, it's difficult to "lose" as you continue to play the same levels over and over.

about the ball slowing down after getting through all 34 levels twice. My current score is 375,835 with 90 lives left and I think (actually lost count) I've been all the way through 10 times. I agree with an earlier post as well - after awhile it does get boring. The only reason I've gotten this far is that I'm supposed to be getting a newer model and I was just curious what would happen after completing the second turn.

Most likely, you've gone through all 34 levels at least 21 or 22 times. The highest possible score per round of 34 levels (as far as I can tell) is around 19K. Most people average somewhere between 16K and 18K per round.

Bootfitter, I was also skeptical of the 1.6 million score since that would take 20K per round for 80 rounds - and that's just not going to happen no matter how good you are! BUT... two days ago I expected to have the game end at 80x so that I could post my high score. Instead the game kept going at 81x, then 82x, and 83x , etc. I am now on 100x and have to believe that there are others out there with some big scores that just haven't finished the game. If the game has to end to submit your high score the question is - when do you waste all of your lives to post your score? I have an 8300 Curve and am playing on Brickbreaker software version 4.2.2.

Bootfitter, I just saw this previous message of yours. As you can see from my previous post, it is possible to go over 80 rounds. Since there is only one score on the leaderboard that would definitely require over 80 rounds, I suspect that the latest software version has changed and 80+ rounds are now possible. I just got my new 8300 Curve a couple of months ago with Brickbreaker version 4.2.2.
After reading all the posts about phone or software malfunctions, it's really tempting for me to trash my remaining lives and officially log my 1.76 million score.
