Default appointment reminders

Please Login to Remove!

I just got the BB 7520 and love it. I am coming from a iPaq and miss a few of the features on it. Is there anyway to have a wav or mp3 file play as a reminder for an appointment? Had that feature on my iPaq and everyone loved to hear my kids (they were 5 & 6 at the time) remind me of an appointment.

Also I miss eWallett. The BB compatable programs, eSafe and criptmajic appear to be sorely lacking in compareability. Not to mention getting all my info from eWallet to something else.

Any help on the reminder would be appreciated.

doesn't support wav or mp3. you can have it play one of the default tones on your handset - go into Profiles > Calendar.

Thanks, but I guess I want to ask what type of file the default tones are in and could I translate or make a new file? Then transfer it in useing efile?

I have donwloaded a number of files used for ring tones. they are common songs and things like that. I can use those for the appointment reminder. I don't know what format those are, but I would guess you could get your stuff into that and use it.

Casmer,

What was the file type for the ring tones you used?
How did you transfer those into the BB? What program?
What flolder in the BB did you put them too?
After you transfered the files did you just go to the profiles (default) and were the ring tones in the drop down list when you were changing the "in holster" and "out of Hoster" settings?

this will probably sound a little foolish, but I do not know what the file types are for the ringers. I was/am using www.3gupload.com. Very cool site for ringers and more. I just noticed on there that they allow you to upload your own files and they have a little FAQ on creating "Voice Ringers". So you should check it out if you are interested. To use them, they basically text you (or you can just go to their website and view "your locker") a link to the files. You download the files from there and they automatically show up in your list of available tones inside the Profile section.

I have download some fun songs. I am still waiting for someone to come up with a custom ring per contact application, but I think there are still some API limitations there with the BB OS for the 7100.

they are polyphonic midi ringtones. supposedly the BB was supposed to support ADPCM2 as well (which would allow for voice), but i was told by RIM that the support was pulled (no one could get it to work, either).
