You may be with be one of those tiny cellphone companies. Try downloading another carrier's BlackBerryOS4, just make sure you delete the VENDOR.XML file.

Make sure you download the software that's appropriate to your specific BlackBerry.

Vodafone has the latest 4.0 for GSM/GPRS BlackBerries, if Cellular One is a GSM/GPRS cellphone company.

Cellular One here in the Southeast was replaced by Cingular, I believe. I'm not sure where you are, but you can post up the model number of your handset and I'm sure someone will be able to help out a tad better.

Or you can just try Cingular's downloads to see if they have the model you are wanting.

Cellular one is dying. Its not even available in my area anymore (northern utah, but oddly, still is available in southern utah), and their service prices are outrageous. Try to unlock your phone while you've still got a chance.

considering Cellular One was one of the top 5 wireless companies just a few years back, and one of the first actual nationwide companies, it its truly amazing they are now only available in the southwest. i didn't realize things were so bad for them...

You guys need a history lesson.... Cellular One was a brand name / Franchise developed by McCaw. Back in the old'n days youcouldn't just roam with a cellular phone. So Craig got some partnerships together to creat a unified brand with inter-op roaming agreements.

Back then anyone could win the license lottery and many small fish did. Without the resources to go much beyond the basics. McCaw unified this thinking and brought these small fish together.

Once the PCS liceneses were auctioned and Sprint and Bells got spectrum the larger telcos began to dig their claws into these businesses and the Cell One name was slowly replaced with names like AT&T, SBC and the like. The CellOne franchsises remaining are the hold outs - keeping their spectrum from the corp. monoliths.

So really it "not so bad" for them - a simple equation of mergers and aquisitions.
