Default 7520/Nextel Questions

Please Login to Remove!

I'm considering finally getting a Blackberry because of the current $10 discount on the Nextel BB plan. I would really prefer to stay with Cingular, but with the $45/month data cost plus $10/month MDS service cost, it is just too much. The Nextel plan would be $35/month and would include the MDS service. So I have a few questions about the 7520 on Nextel:

1) Does it come with 4.0 software or do you need to upgrade/install the 4.0 software yourself?

2) According to this thread (http://www.blackberryforums.com/view...highlight=7520, the BB HTML browser now is included. But I didn't see much comment on this in any other threads. Is the HTML browser now included or would I need to by the Webviewer program?

3) Is it true that you can't do text messages and only emails?

4) Does anyone on this forum use the BB Web Client to foward AOL email to their Blackberry (any Blackberry model)?? If so, I have a couple of questions for you.

Well I just got mine last week (before the $10 discount, bah!). I can tell you that I definitely love this thing, beats my i730 hands down (certainly no PDA). As for your questions, yes it comes with 4.0 OS. As for a browser, the one that came on mine sucked and only allowed me through Nextel's portals to web sites. I downloaded ReqViewer as a full html browser since Blackberry support told me I needed to purchase BES in order to get a full web browser. I have not actually tried to text message anyone, but I use the e-mail all the time and I love it. I have also not tried using the web client with my AOL mail, but maybe I'll try that a little later and see how it works. Other than that, it is a great little phone and I am loving it.

Thanks for the info. Give this a try and let me know how it works. Specifically, I need to know how it handles the whole "new mail"/"old mail" folder thing.

Reqwireless has a program called "GotMail Viewer" which checks AOL mail. But in their FAQ's, they state that all mail that is checked by this program automatically shifts from the "new mail" folder to the "old mail" folder. This is a problem for me because AOL automatically deletes mail from the "old mail" folder after a few days. Sometimes I use my phone to check email when I'm away for a couple of weeks, and I need an interface that lets me have full control. I need to be able to keep certain emails as new, delete others, etc. And I don't want to have to go through all the junk emails a second time after I come back from vacation.......I want to do it once from my phone and have them gone from the server. I'm not sure if the Blackberry Web Client will allow this or not......I may have to go the Smartphone route.
