Default RMA Guidelines - JVM Errors, Hardware, Send/Receive issues

Looks like after advanced troubleshooting, if a JVM error continues to happen, then you could be eligible for an RMA direct from RIM rather than having to deal with the various carriers and their warranty guidelines. All hardware issues appear to have a single end result - the carriers.

Anyhow, good info to know.

Actually that just says that for a persisting JVM error to escalate to BlackBerry Technical Support and notes that any RMA has to go through this process.

RMA's (from my experience) still have to go through the carrier to RIM. Unless the handheld was purchased directly from RIM (950, 957, 5790, 7270). If it is outside of the warranty provided by the carrier, they still had to initiate the RMA with RIM (except some of the Cingular handhelds I've dealt with).

However, these RMA's are not free. There is a cost associated, and it's still up to RIM as to if it get's RMA'd.

That's just my own $0.02.
