How to read News with Blackberry?
Blackberry 8700c on Cingular

What is the best way to read news via this setup? Is there a good list of news site that can be easily accessed via blackberry or does it require a software install?

pocket day allows RSS feeds to be set up or Pocket Express has news updates also.

Try Piconews:

I don't like to install extra software on BB to slow it down. So PocketDay might not be a good option. looks like a good solution. Looks like you still need to install it though. Do you like it? I guess you can choose what news you want, like selecting FT, NYT, USAToday, etc, right?

Piconews works pretty good
Hey pengrus,

I'm using Pico as well and it works pretty good. There is one buggy thing I've noticed about it, though. Your feed headlines will auto-scroll, allowing you to see the entire headline. I've noticed that sometimes when I open the full article (Pico opens a browser session and goes to the site hosting the full article), if I alt-tab back to Pico with the browser still open sometimes the headlines will stop auto-scrolling. The only solution the software vendor has is to remove the batt & reinsert. Auto-scroll is turned back on. It's a bit of a pain, but it's a free app and works well otherwise.

It has a bunch of canned feeds but you can add your own. You can control:
  • The order in which the feeds are displayed
  • The number of items displayed per feed
  • How feeds are purged
  • Poll frequency
There are other settings you can tweak, as well.

Hope this helps.

A free application is Berry Bloglines. It gives you a lot of choices for your reading pleasure. It connects to the internet, so it wont "slow" your BB down

Just tried piconews. And found it only gives you a short summary of the news, like one paragraph. If you want to read full article, you then click on "Read Full Article". What is its advantage comparing just go to a couple of good mobile web sites for news? Some of them are not very well formated for the mobile phone.

Installed Piconews and did not like it. How can I uninstall it? I tried application loader and did not find piconews there.
