With all the talk flying around about the 8700 and 7130 I'm curious who all is still using and older Blackberry. I'm talking about the 16MB models or maybe even older.
I'm using a 7780 right now, but might be switching over to a 7100g to try out Suretype. I'll probably switch back and forth between the 7100, 7780, and a 7280 for a while (we have several spares at the office) just to try the different form factors.
Some things I like about the 7780 is the size, the big square screen, and that the display works so well under ambient lighting that I don't need to use the backlight much. I have the font set to BBMillibank at size 7 which lets me fit a lot of info on the screen and reduces the need to scroll down the menus just to see the rest of the options. It's kind of slow sometimes, and it only runs GPRS, but it's been practical and the 4.0.2 firmware has removed some of the things that used to be irritating (like trying to figure out what button does what function with the calculator app).
We have some employees using the older models. For some all they want/need os the email and don't want or need to upgrade to the newer models. We are trying to phase out the older models because the number of different models for us to fully support is becoming to large, not to mention we keep adding more users.
