Hello, I just received a new 8700c on a cingular plan last week. So far all is good but I am having difficutly trying to figure out something.

I received certain text messages that are supposed to go to my pager forwarded to my blackberry and for those pages I would like to set its own SMS tune. One problem though is that the from field is always different, the from field counts up the messages, for example the first message I recieved is 1010000 and then the second says its from 1010001 and then 1010002 and so on.

So what I did was put all my contacts into a new category that I called 'contacts' and in hope that I can give that category a custom SMS tune so that when I receive the messages from my pager, it plays a default tune for those.

Is that possible? Also, is it possible to change the SMS tune for certain contacts?

For those that are interested, my pager is a fire pager for my job, so I made an airraid siren tune that I hope will go off when I get receive the page on my blackberry. You all can find the tune and also a CTU24 tune at

if you set an exception for a contact, you can also set a specific tone for their SMS messages etc- you need to create an altogether new profile for that person, then set an exception for that person to use the new profile. the sms tune will be set accordingly.
