Default BIS 2.0 for Sprint is here!

Please Login to Remove!

Saw a newer interface and sure enough after logging in the option was there!

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7250/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/104)

I did the BIS update last night. So far so good. Like with other carriers you get a new icon for each email account, but they can be hidden easily.

It will be interesting to see if there integration allows for sub-folders and how soon they have real time Yahoo mail delivery.

OK but no folders I assume. Can't file your mail.

Not sure. Never used the file feature.

I would be shocked if this version was any different from the rest of them though...

I'm getting an error when trying to update. Says to try again. Keep trying and nothing happens. Anyone else get this message?

Default Question

I got my Sprint BB upgrades to BIS 2.0 and I now have the icons for all three of my email accounts. Is there a way for BIS email accounts to not show up in my main inbox, which is where my work BES mail is delivered?

hackorsack - simple answer is no - all your emails will go to the main inbox - the new seperate folders (if your running handheld code 4.1) just let you know what address each eamil was sent to - and makes it easier to send using that email address from your handheld

Bummer. It would be nice if it just went into each mailbox and not hit the main inbox....

Is there a way to create a inbox for BES....essentially so that my BIS mail would go to theirs, BES would go to another and I could just ignore inbox?

My take on this now:

From experience here is what is happening on 2.0. You can reply to any email account that you have configured with the correct "from" and "reply to" address, but you can't change those to another address for your reply email. For new emails, you can select any account you have configured, plus your [email address] address. If you select the latter, your settings on the BIS control your "from" and "reply to" address.

For Yahoo or an IMAP account, copies of emails from the BB are stored in the sent folder. Deleted emails are moved to the trash folder. Items sent from your email account and deleted from there do not appear or get deleted on the BB. Read and unread marks are reconciled from the BB to the email account but not the other way around. Thus, itís a one way sync unlike BES which is a two way sync. No other subfolder moves are supported. Thus if you use typically file messages on the BB and then choose to hide filed messages, you are out of luck right now. All the BIS messages will remain on the BB message list. Thus, get hosted BES for the best experience.

The individual mail icons deliver email to the appropriate account from the BIS. The main inbox allows you to see/manage from one location on your BB. Just wanted to clarify that.

From what I have read here and elswhere, TImK has crippled the BIS. From their websit on the differences:

BlackBerry Internet Service Inbox
One main difference between BlackBerry Internet Service 1.8 and 2.0 is the Inbox feature. BlackBerry Internet Service 1.8 includes an inbox for managing messages, whereas BlackBerry Internet Service 2.0 does not. The primary function of BlackBerry Internet Service 2.0 is managing integrated email accounts.

I, like stinsonddog, use folders to "manage my messages" on my hanbdheld. Removing the capability to do this will totally ruin the Blackberry email experience for me. I want to manage my messages, and not merely manage multiple accounts where I can't manage the messages in those accounts.

Thanks for your Help.
