Default wired synch or bb as modem?

Please Login to Remove!

If I temporarily DON'T have my laptop connected to the NET (e.g at airport or when Comcast is down, as it was today), can I:
- Receive an email via my bb (I have BES)
- Synch that email to my laptop (e.g. via usb cable)
- Write a response to that email on my laptop, and possibly even include an attachment, and then send by reversing the process - synch my laptop's outlook to my BB, then from my BB, send the message.

I'm guessing the answer is "no" as I haven't seen any documentation. Seems like the alternate is to experiment with using the BB as a modem (I have a 8700g) and then simply use my regular or web-based version of outlook from my laptop. I'd rather not mess with modem strings if I can avoid it though.

Any advice?
Thanks.
