Default Name Display Launched on Rogers

Please Login to Remove!

Starting today, I have name display on my blackberry. Incomming calls now display the NAME and the NUMBER of the incomming callers who are not in your addressbook just as a landline does.

Outgoing calls from your mobile device also display YOUR name to callers, however you can supress your name with Rogers on request just as you can suppress your number prior to this launch.

THis is a great feature. No more wondering who the number is that just called you.

Nice, would be nice to see Cingular with this. I'm the kind of person who doesnt answer a call if they're not in my address book. If they leave a message then I'll call them back.

I find it useless as all my calls come from people in my address book so the name and number shows up anyways. Rogers offers this service free for 1 month then charges $8 for it. With Rogers they used to charge a one time fee of $25 to permanently block your number for those who didnt want do dial #31# before everycall... Now with this service they can block your number at no charge or leave it open. It's a shame you don't have the option of having Private Name and display number.

I have heard much back lash in the office as we are Rogers customers who's account shows one name on their Vision 21 system but another person's name is in the User Name field or Authorized User field. Rogers will not allow the account user name for call display only the actual account holder... So now our small firm of 20 people all have our Bosses name or the company name show up on the caller ID.

I believe it is $3 over the regular caller ID charge. So the NET is $3 for the name ID although it is $8 for the caller id/name ID combo.

www.rogers.com/namedisplay you can change the info displayed there- and displaying "private" is an option from what Rogers has told me.

Does T-Mobile offer this? This is why I took off the minutes on my previous phone (Sidekick). I got sick and tired of only numbers coming up and not knowing who was calling me.

I believe Rogers is the only North American carrier who has this feature at this time. it should be just a matter of time before other GSM carriers begin to offer it.

Displaying private is an option but it's private bottom line or display your name and number. For our company all the BlackBerries have voice and data. They are all under the CEO's name and the cell phones are under the company name. So when anyone calls it either displays the company name (for our cell phone users) and any of us BlackBerry users who call someone it looks like the CEO is calling as it's his name with out cell phone number. It's too bad there is no option of: Private Name display number but apparently both of our corportate reps have told us that Rogers is working on this and will be available later on in the year. Right now it's totally block or no block at all.
