Default Voicemail Issue

Please Login to Remove!

I have a problem with my voicemail. Thanks to BlackBerry support, I know how to work around this problem, but it's still annoying and I was hoping there's a way to ensure this problem doesn't happen in future.

The problem starts when I get a notification I have a voicemail message waiting for me, even though I didn't get a telephone call.

So I try calling my voicemail, only the screen shows that instead of dialling my normal voicemail number, it dials "[voicemail #]bunch of random numbers".

Now according to BB support, I have to clear my voicemail number out of my BB, do a hard reset, and then start from scratch. This solves the problem, but it doesn't prevent the problem from happening again.

...help!

By the way, BlackBerry 7520, 4.1, Nextel.

You're gonna need a religion by the time I'm through with you.

Angry

I have the exact same problem with the exact same software and carrier. It just started today when a voicemail showed up even though I did not receive a call (not uncommon for nextel in my area).

If i try to clear, edit, delete my voicemail settings, as soon as I save and jump out of that menu, the random numbers are back. If i try to create my own speed dial to myself, it tries to dial the exact same string of crap.....

I was hoping someone on here had an answer.

Wait more than 40 minutes before expecting a reply. This isn't a paid support site.

I removed the 'additional numbers' from the Voicemail option; so far the problem has not repeated itself.

This has officially happened to me 4 times now since I originally posted. Its not the same string of numbers either. Very annoying. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take my phone 3 minutes to reboot.

This happens every so often to users at my officea as well, aside from the work around I've never been able to figure out how to prevent it from happenning.

Interesting. Not heard of this and we have 100+ 7520 users....but not all are at 4.1 OS.

If it REALLY bothers you, I would use javaloader to wipe it and reload the OS. Be sure to make a backup first if you use the password keeper.

Angry tried it and no luck

I have the same issue same carrier, happens sometimes 3 or 4 times a day. I have erased the BB completely and reloaded from scratch, the only thing I reloaded from the old is my contacts, so I should have been as clean as you can get. Didnt help, the Nextel people are of no help either, and they dont seem to care enough to escalate the issue to whoever can dig into it and get it fixed, the problem was not there at 4.0 and is at 4.1 so to me it is simple contact the software people and have them figure it out.
