Default How to Unlock BB 8700r

Please Login to Remove!

Help - am thinking of buying a BB 8700r but it is not unlocked. Live in Toronto and use Bell network for my BB 7130e.

Can the BB 8700r be unlocked? And if so, can it then be used on the Bell network?

Also, how can it be unlocked? Thanks.

There's a very tiny keyhole underneath the SIM card slot. The keys are each individually fashioned by blackberry elves and require the seven magics to bring to full power. Finding one of these magic keys, particularly the right one, will require all your mana...... Warrior needs food badly.

Actually, carriers have unlock codes for their handhelds and it's really up to them if they want to provide the code or not. I doubt Rogers would sell an 8700 without a data plan and immediately provide an unlock code.

I know there are "alternatives". I've seen links here and there through out the forum. Whether those are legit or not, I have no idea and personally wouldn't use them. They seem a little shady to me, like advertising the ability to 'unlock' CDMA devices and the like.

And speaking of CDMA. Rogers = GPRS... Bell = CDMA. Two entirely different networks. If you can get an 8700R up and running on Bell I'd be really, really impressed. No, seriously. Gaping jaw, mouth open, wide-eyed and everything. ;)

$250 for Rogers to unlock, IIRC.

Look at that another unlocking thread! Kindly search. This has been covered hundreds of times... Simply utilize the RED SEARCH feature at the top of the forum and search for "Unlock" or "Unlocking" for that matter. No the 8700r can not be used on Bell. Rogers is a GSM carrier and Bell CDMA to completely differen beasts.
