Cool Backing up BES using Blackberrybackup - Missing a trick?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All
I am looking to implement a Standby server in DR. Had a good read of what to do re SRP keys etc and services off and only 1 server connecting at a time etc. All good...

What I am disappointed about is the blackberry backup tool. OK, it is a cmd line but am I missing a trick here? To automate this process I have to put the password in a file!

In a corporate environment it is bad practice to put a password in a script, especially one that can be read by any admins of the server. In a large environment such as my one DBA's and other Windows admins would have access to the server.

I am sure lots of people don't consider this a risk and this slips under the radar with their security dept but I cannot see a way out. Using a BAT to exe tool might be the only way to secure the password and ACL's to bolster security but this is not exactly secure. Even with passwords to stop decompiling the EXE it could be cracked.

What are you guys doing?

Cheers all...
