I think I may have read this whole forum looking for this answer. This is a great site I got to say.I was loading an app to my 7520 with desktop manager when it stopped about half way thru. Now it will not respond to anything...Blank screen with a circle in center with a line thru it with a square box in it ..It has 507 just under it..Have I ruined my new toy or is there a way to bring her back to life.It does sound like it connects when i plug the usb cable into the PC...Thanks in advance for any help...

507 is an error indicating no OS on the handheld. Did you install the handheld software along the desktop manager on your PC or just the desktop manager. If you have not, install the handheld software for your BB and search for and remove the Vendor file, after this is done connect your BB to the pc, relaunch the desktop manager, and launch the aplication loader that should re install the operating system. When that is done, if you have any backups you can use them to restore.

Do a device wipe using JavaLoader. Try to reload the OS using the Desktop Manager. Pull the battery out and put it back in. If any of this works, re-register the handheld by going to Options>Host Routing Table>Register Now. Then resend your service books by logging into your BIS account. This will reload the Browser, Download Fun and Setup Internet Email icons. Hope this helps. If the BB does not respond to ANY of this, time for a replacement.

Did you disconnect the USB cable before the app load process was done? You've terfed your OS. Download the javaloader.exe or JL_Camdr wipe the OS and re-install it. Search for either they've both been posted, if you can find a post by d_fisher he has both in his sig.

Also try: Make sure you have the current desktop manager and handheld OS on you PC and cunnected direct not USB hub. 1. do a 2. When you see the hour glass double click the AppLoader, loader should show your PIN, follow through the OS load. Hopefully you backed up?

Thanks for all the Help.....I had everything backed up untill Wednesday and my Lapptop crashed and I lost it all...I think that might have been part of what happened to the BB..It glitched in the middle of the load and disconnected...I have to try to redownload everything again..Im not even sure I remember where I got everything..LOL...I bought it second hand so the service books were already on it ..I,m not sure I can get them back...I may have to just take my losses and find another BB...I will keep trying for a while tho..I downloaded the javaloader but havent figured it out yet..it keeps telling me not a good command.....

Follow the advice you will get the OS back and the service books will be able to be reloaded once you have service by reregistering the bb. Take it easy one step at a time. Look at the top of the page for Blackberry FAQs button and follow it to Operating System Upgrades, that will take you to a place to download your OS. If you need the desktop software go to your providers site and search for it there or call tech support who will tell you were to get it from.

Did you use javaloader or JL_Cmder (in my signature) to wipe it first, if you didnt do it now and try again.

Yes but redownload the OS and make sure it installs cleanly.

If you have a 507, you have no handheld OS. Please do the following (fourth time writing in three days)..

1. Download the latest handheld OS for you particular BlackBerry from your carrier. There is a link in the Sticky Threads at the top of the General BlackBerry Discussion forum which has the download sites for all carriers.

2. Execute the file you just downloaded

3. Locate and delete VENDOR.XML on your PC C: drive

4. Restart Desktop Manager

That should do it!

I have a 7520 and the exact same problem is occuring. No matter what I do, I keep getting the same error during the attempt at loading a new OS. It hangs at connecting to boot ROM and then errors out. I have wiped it so much it needs rash cream! It does respond to commands from Javaloader and app. loader sees it, but that is all I can get her to do.....HELP! Please, for the love of ?Blackberries!

Unhappy

Oh yes, I am not sure this is relevant but... The device worked fine until I attempted an update of the handheld software. I have done this before with success on a different unit. This time it just failed. I had no glitch, no interruption, no nothing. It just stopped responding to the upload and now has the prettiest little electronic picture frame of a 507 error....

Well, after a ton of reading and etc. on this and other sites, it appears that even though it worked fine until the upgrade attempt, it is now dead. It seems that Blackberry is so unstable that it can just decide to stop allowing software writes to the hardware and give you that no vasaline feeling! Thanks RIM! One would think that with this happening soooo much that someone would figure out a way to force load the os into the device. Especially since the dang thing will connect using the attatchment loader...
Is there no geek out there that can master this error?????
