Default New messages not visible

One of my clients is having a problem that I'm having trouble finding a solution to. If I could get my hands on his BlackBerry, I'm sure I could solve it, but he's on the other side of the country.

As of midnight last night, he claims he can't see any new messages. When an email is sent to him, he receives it on Outlook, and his BlackBerry vibrates and sends an audible alert, however, when he looks at the home screen, no new mail message icon appears (you know, the little envelope with the number next to it). Also, when he goes to his mailbox, he can't see any messages sent after midnight of last night.

I assume that he somehow collapsed the current day so they're not visible.

He's using a model 7xxx ( can't remember exact number). A side note that might be unrelated, he said when he woke up this morning that the date on his BB was reading April 17, so he quickly changed it back to today's date, May 10.

Any ideas? I have an 8700c, so I'm not sure if he has some other settings on his that he could have accidently changed.

Have him do a reset on his blackberry device (ALT, CAP, DEL simultaneously)...

Sounds like he might have a rule of some sort in Outlook that is filing his messages??

Tried soft reboot. Didn't work. Tried removing the battery, leaving it out for 15 seconds, then turning it on. Still no luck. The exact model number is 7100g.

Man, you gotta love stupid problems. When he reset the date, he accidently set it to 2005 instead of 2006, so all of his messages were going to the bottom of his inbox. We fixed the date and now everything is working fine. Thanks for your help. Even with these stupid problems, I learn new things about the BlackBerry that I didn't know.
