Default Changing Reply-to from the BlackBerry

Please Login to Remove!

There are several instances in which I would prefer a recipient of an email I sent to reply directly to my BlackBerry address, rather than having the delay of going through my main email address. Currently, in the BWC, my reply-to/from address is set to my mail email (not the BlackBerry's email address). Short of changing it in the BB web client, is there any way to set the reply-to address from the BB itself?

I *think* when you compose a message you should have the field for 'Send Using' at the top of the screen. If you change that to 'Web Client' it may do what you want....but I could be wrong.

This way when people reply, it would go to your BWC/BIS address.

Are you also on BES. Which BIS? 1.8 or 2.0? Which carrier? See my Yahoo/gmail tips page at my tips site which covers some of this.

You can also download BBReply for free and change the reply-to to whatever you want.

Just thought I'd note that BBreply does not work in the new BIS 2.0 environment.

I'm having this same problem. I have an 8700g (T-mobile) and I'm on the BIS. I have downloaded the bbreply program but I don't see the option where I can change the reply to address.

I am running Bharti- no BIS 2.0 and have entered addresses (named them etc.. in BBreply)and do not see any options to change reply-to in the compose e-mail area or in bbreply. This is probably a simple answer but can you tell people where to look?

Thanks!

Found all the info on Stinsondog's site- should have looked there first, my mistake! Rookie move by me-sorry...

Here is info on BBreply from Stinsondog:

Changing The Reply Too Addresses

BIS 2.0 allows you to choose an reply to email address from the BB. If you aren't on the new BIS, in order to change your reply to address, you must use BBreply and you want to change your reply to address. This is a utility written for the BB handheld. Note that if you have a email address in your BIS setting "reply to using" field it will OVER RIDE your BBreply SETTINGS and always have use your BIS “reply to,” so make sure you change your BIS settings. BBreply does NOT work with BIS 2.0.

The way to use it is:

1) Start to compose a reply to the message.

2) Once it is composed before you send it out

3) You click on the track wheel and choose set reply to.

4) A window pops up and you select the address you want to use as the reply to.

5) After you select the e-mail you will be returned to the e-mail. Here if you look at the top you will now see the reply to address in place.

6) Now you are ready to click on the wheel again and choose send.

Sorry, on BIS2 I don't think there is native support for what you want.

You have set your blackberry.net email address to add a reply-to with a different address and that is what it will do. It probably takes place on the server side.

I may have a solution for you soon by using Gmail as a shell account. You could get all your main email instantly sent/received and keep your current non-gmail address. Stay tuned to this thread Gmail BIS2 Setup.

johnfromphilly - My Gmail setup expects you to specify the reply-to address in the BIS settings for your bb.net address. I only mention since you posted you were not on BIS2, and I do not know what options are available on the older release, or how it will react.

I have tried using BBReply but i get a "message is not using Web Client Service. Set ReplyTo will not work." error.

Can someone tell me if i've got a setting wrong or dont have a setting. I'm using a BB 7100x with Maxis Mobile in Malaysia.

Thanks

Does any of this work on BES? I have 2 Yahoo email addresses forwarded to my Main work email address and it works perfectly. Just need to change the "reply to" to work via the BES avoiding the BIS.

Thanks in advance

I seem to have trouble with this too. My wife's 7290 now gives two options when sending out e-mail, she has web client and her [email address] address. Whenever she composes a new e-mail, the default is webclient, and when she sends it, it fails to send with a red "X". But if she changes it to her @tmo.blackberry.net option, it sends out just fine. How do I make the @tmo default? She does not have an inbox on the tmobile bis website when she logs on. We upgraded her device from a 7230 to a 7290 and this is pi**ing her off.

delete the web client [cmime] - you shouldn't have this service book anymore as T-Mobile updated to their new system back in October

web client [cmime] is used for sending w/ BIS 1.8 accounts

Ah, ok thanks. I will check her 7290 and see if I can delete the web client. That would be under Options, right?
