Default Sametime on Blackberry 4.1

Please Login to Remove!

Hello there,

I just got a Cingular Blackberry 8700c for the first time after I gave up my Audiovox SMT5600 running Windows Mobile 5. After searching around these forums, I see that blackberry 4.1 supports Sametime out of the box, but I can't seem to find out how to access it. Would someone mind telling me where it is?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7250/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/109 UP.Browser/5.0.3.3 UP.Link/5.1.2.1 UP.Link/1.1)

Blackberry OS 4.1 does not have a Sametime client. There is one in the works c/o IBM.

Sametime is a Lotus Add-on. I use it off our BES for internal people at my company. You mite be talking about the BBMessenger. on your 8700c goto http://mobile.blackberry.com and you can get it OTA from there.

Both IM+ and IBM make a sametime client for the BB, but they charge close to 50 bucks for it. Go figure.

I was just researching this myself.

Sametime is available in BES 4.1. We upgraded from 4.0 to 4.1 versions of BES about 2 weeks ago. It took less than 30 minutes. Setting up the Sametime capability took about another 20 minutes. There is client software that comes with BES 4.1 and your administrator should be able to push it out to you.

I have a BES 4.1 server and an IBM Lotus Sametime server, but I can't figure out how to make this work.

I don't expect you to write out the 20 minutes to establich ST capability, but can you post a URL where all of the relevant steps are listed?

Thanks.

The necessary information should be in the System Admin Guide.
