Default Lost 1XEV

Please Login to Remove!

My BB (7130e) is no longer indicating that I am in 1XEV in areas that it was yesterday. It just shows 1X. Is this common? Could I have turned it off somehow?

This is the metro Boston area, Verizon.

Do a Reboot, pull out the battery, wait about 30 seconds, and put it back in...

Did you update your OS to 4.1.268?

Playing with your RMS databases lately?

Check ##000000 and ensure [email address] is in 3 places and vzw is the SIP password...

Can you elaborate? I'm a noob to the BB world, and I've been poking around quite a bit with it. But I am clueless to what you are asking me here.

I'm currently tethered to my laptop in Stamford CT which should be in EVDO coverage, but my BB still says 1X. However, it feels faster than dialup. I almost think maybe I'm getting EVDO performance despite it telling me otherwise.

*perplexed*

To whsbuss: yes, I'm running 268.

What he asked you to do was to go to your Phone application and dial ##000000. Once you hit rnter look and see if your phone number appears in three different places, and if there is a vzw in the area labeled SIP password. Those are the correct settings.

Ok, thanks.

My phone # appeared in 2 places, mobile directory # and MSLS.
The SIP User ID is <my phone#>@vzw3g.com
SIP Password appears to be blank.

They are wrong about SIP password...once you type in VZW in the password field, the device will reset, and it will be blank again, so don't bother with that...and they are also wrong about your number being in 3 places with @vzw3g.com, it should only be 2 places and your number should show up normally without the @vzw3g.com twice all the way up top..So a total of four times your number will be there, but only 2 @vzw3g.com

After doing this, my BB data connection is totally hosed. Now I can't get data at all. I was on with Verizon tech support for an hour, trying everything. He couldn't figure it out, so he had to escalate the case and I have to wait for a call back from the heavies.

On the CDMA Service Editor screen, my phone # shows twice at the top, "mobile directory #" and "IMSLS".

SIP User ID is "<phone #>@vzw3g.com. SIP password is blank. Everything else looks fine.

Googled "data connection refused" dug up the answer.

Apparently there is a RIM firmware bug after tethering to a PC. This is nasty.

Here's the fix for anyone interested. Worked like a charm.
