Default sim card

My company will provide me very soon a BB. However, I am planning to buy a Sony Ericsson P990 which has the Blackberry capability.

Will it work if I transfer my sim card from the BB to the other phone ? If yes, will I have to input some specific settings in the P990 ?

Thanks a lot,

It depends on what phone/sim your company issues you.

I think it'll work but you'll have to change your IMEI and PIN with the company everytime you switch. You can do it on the internet but it seems like a pain.

If the SIM card is compatible, then it shoudl work. I am referring to physical compatibility primarily.

However, if your card is a CDMA card and you slap it into a 7290, I am not as sure about that. Switching between devices where its CDMA vs GPRS might be an issue. If it is perhaps reloading the device software could be the fix, but there are also hardware architecture concerns I would think.

CDMA does not use a SIM card.

The GSM/BlackBerry plan will work with with the SE P990. HOWEVER, you will have to configure your SEP990 to be able to receive/send emails through the BES.

You'll need the BlackBerry Connect software for the P990 (not all carriers offer the BBC software for it, even tho they sell it) then you'll need the BB Desktop software for Sony-Ericsson phones. This will allow you to hook your 990 to your companies BES.

You will lose wireless synchronization of Address Book, Tasks, and Memo pad. You will have email functionality and be able to do wireless Calendar.

If you have a GroupWise server, you cannot use BlackBerry Connect phones with it.
