A few days ago I saw the thread BlackBerry OS 4.1 available for Cingular 7100g/7290 and installed

A pleasant surprise was the new colorful home page in place of the life-without-parole-inspired original. Everything went great, but my address book was not restored. I got an error message saying that I could restore it from the backup, which I attempted. Unfortunately, it seems to have restored more than just the address book. Now I have the prison cell home page again and I can't tell if I've downgraded the OS in the process too.

I tried reinstalling from the original download, but I still have the same home page. What do I need to do to wipe this baby and bring it to modern standards?

FYI.... \Settings\About reports v4.1.0.292 (platform 1.8.0.144) and Desktop Manager \About reports v.4.1.0.10 (Sep 14 2005).

Search for Javaloader (or Javaloader -usb wipe) and go from there...

I downloaded Javaloader.exe (from http://www.blackberryforums.com/atta...2&d=1144115071)

I ran it at a command prompt (javaloader.exe -usb wipe).

It wiped my 7100g.

I reinstalled from Cingular.

All is good.
