A colleague with an 8700g has several email icons (one for each mailbox) on his desktop. this allows him to view emails for a given account separately. is there a way to do this with an 8700c? thanks.

This is (I believe) a "feature" of BIS 2.0.

i got the same icons when i upgraded to 2.0

i just hid them off of my home screen. too much clutter

To answer your question, you cannot do this with your 8700c as Cingular has not moved to BIS 2.0. Once Cingular makes the switch you will be able to have a mail icon for each account you have set up via BIS.

as a further note - you need to have 4.1 handheld software and BIS 2.0 for this to happen

Dinide, how did you hide them?

On the screen you want to hide (or move) an icon, highlight the icon you want to hide or move, hold down the [Alt] or key, and click the wheel. A menu will appear with the options

• Move Application
• Hide Application
• Show All

Select the desired action and click the wheel. If you're moving an icon, scroll until the icon is where you want it and then click the wheel again.

Show All will have a check next to it if it is already showing all icons.

Hidden icons will appear with an X over them if you select Show All.

thanks for the information. i'm sure the answer is on this site (and i'll look for it), but is cingular planning on making this switch? or, can you upgrade to the new software without affecting my cingular service.

cingular will be switching to BIS 2.0 - time is not known
however upgrading to 4.1 won't affect your service

I have a user that wants the seperate mailboxes and does not all the email to go to the Main mailbox, can this be done?

No, all messages go the message list, all the other icons are just going to that list with a preset filter to only show messages sent to that account.

Of course, you could move your Messages icon on your home screen to the bottom, and leave the other other email icons at the top (you can't hide the Messages icon).

Maybe I'm just misunderstanding something. I'm on Cingular (BB7290) and THINK I've been using BIS 2.0 for about a month or so now. Am I wrong?
