Greetings... Well I just got my new 7100i with Nextel service and was curious to how PIN works. My PIN is *deleted*, can someone send something? Thanks in advance!

Aside from uniquely identifying your Blackberry, it can also be used to send (text) messages directly from your Blackberry to another Blackberry, and can also be used for the Blackberry Messenger service.

In the Blackberry Address Book, there is a field specifically reserved for the contact's PIN number. You can send a PIN message to any contact that has a PIN (in the address book with the contact highlighted, click the wheel and select PIN contact name), or from within Messages you can click the wheel and select Compose PIN and enter a PIN manually or by typing the name of a contact that has the PIN field populated.

Blackberry Messenger can use an email address as well as a PIN, but the other person must have a Blackberry with Blackberry Messenger installed for you to chat with them on it.
