doing a search turned up nothing, so im starting a new post.

I am not currently on a BES, we just upgraded to an exchange solution this past weekend and hopefully will do a BES in another month or two...

If i sync witht he desktop software the contacts in my mailbox, it doesnt sync the GAL, jus the contacts i have created in there...

is there a way to sync the GAL up? one post i found on seach mentioned certain software to acchieve this function...but didnt even give the name.

This is a shorterm solution until we convince the bosshog to do the BES...

just go into the desktop manager....go to intellisync...configure PIM, on address book, click choose, on folder name hit browse, select the GAL from the top list, double click your gal...go to the previous screen and select import instead of sync (just the first time, after that change it back to sync).

That's it...that's what I do anyway.

perhaps i have something in outlook misconfigured...but the GAL is not a subfolder under "MAILbOX-[accountname]"\contacts

the GAL doesnt show up when i click on contacts in outlook either, i only see the GAL when i compose a new message and click TO or if i click the address book icon on top bar of outlook...but it does not show separately such as a subfolders show under my old personal contacts folder.

BB with webclient or BIS and desktop software for sync to outlook.

I tried above suggestion but do not see GAL as an option either.
Anyone else with a solution that would work even when new enteries are made to AD/GAL?

if you have exchange acct setup in Outlook, then it has an "offline address book" that updates independently of GAL (only updates changes in GAL every 24hrs or so for us) but cant seem to find a way to do that either...
