I am having problems with a blackberry 7130E, when I try to sync the calendar and address book from MS Outlook 2003 the calendar sync's fine however half way through sync'ing the address book I get the error "Unable to write or update application data" I gone through the contacts and made sure there was no illegal characters/symbols in the fields, and made sure there was at least a name and company name. I setup Intellisync properly because I did the exact same setup on others users BB's and they worked fine. I even wiped the blackberry and tried again, still nothing. It can not be a space issue because there is only between 30-40 contacts. I am lost, Any ideas?

I am having the same issue with a 7290BB and syncing with the outlook 2003 contacts. I am using the latest version of Desktop Manager and software on the blackberry, I tried wiping it clean and syncing still same problem, it has to be something in the contacts that is causing this but how can i tell which contact is corrupt without deleting all the contacts? I also tried to enable advanced logging for intellisync but the log tells me nothing.

If you're using a BES with Exchange, this is a GOOD message. It means that you're set up to sync the Address Book - as well as Tasks and Memo Pad wirelessly. It can't sync the data through Intellisync any more.
To verify, on your BB go to the Address Book (or Tasks or Memo Pad), click the wheel and select Options. You should have the option "Wireless Synchronization" which needs to be set to "Yes" for it to work.

Note that this is NOT the same as Email (Messages) Wireless Sync or Calendar Sync. They each have their own way to sync, and in fact in the Intellisync setup, you should have Blackberry Wireless Calendaring enabled (checked), but the other three services unchecked.

Using desktop manager perform a backup and then use backup and restore ADVANCED to go in and clr the contacts database.
Perform a wired sync - check the logs on intellisync look to see which contact the sync stops at.
Ensure that none of your contacts have a blank for the first / surname or use any special character s as it does not like this.

Dont use advanced logging use the LOG button after pressing the Intellisync icon run a sync then check that log look for the last contact synced and then search Outlook for the next contact or any contacts that may have a space for the first / surname or have special character in the name fields
