Default Deleted Messages on Handheld will not delete from Outlook Inbox

Please Login to Remove!

Yesterday I received a replacement BB 7750 from Verizon Wireless. Everything appears to be working properly with the exception of the sync. When I delete a message on my handheld then connect to my PC for a sync it does not remove the message from my desktop. However, if I delete a message from my desktop inbox and then connect the BB it deletes off my BB. All else appears to work fine, if I read a message on my BB then sync is shows that it was opened on my desktop.

What is really puzzling is that my original BB sync'd perfect, everytime. The troubles began with the replacement.

I am using Desktop Manager 4.0.1.10 and BlackBerry version 4.0. I am running my BB through my corporation's BES.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Forgive me if this does not answer your question properly.

But do you have the reconcile feature turned on in your settings?

Yes, the reconcile feature is set. As far as I can tell all settings are the same as on my previous BB.

First, upgrade to at least Desktop Manager 4.1 (the current version is 4.1.1.? recently released - aka 4.1 SP1).

Second, make sure your device's firmware is up to date. Even if the unit is new, updates are numerous.

Third, on the Blackberry go to Messages, click the wheel, and select Options. Scroll to Email Reconciliation and click the wheel. You want the following settings:
  • Message Services: Desktop
  • Delete On: Mailbox & Handheld
  • Wireless Reconciliation: On
  • On Conflicts: Mailbox Wins

Finally, don't use Cached mode in Outlook (it's a farce anyway!). The setting is in the profile's email account settings. Using Outlook with RPC/HTTP doesn't help either, but you may not have a choice with that.

If none of this works, on the Blackberry, go to Settings (or Options or Tools) --> Options --> Advanced Options --> Service Book, find the item Desktop [CMIME], click the wheel and delete it. A resync with Desktop Manager will bring it back.

We find that regularly users we set up using an Over The Air (OTA) Enterprise Activation (EA) comes back with this or similar problems. Deleting the Desktop [CMIME] service book seems to fix the problem. Consequently we try to perform EA with the device plugged into a computer with Desktop Manager set up (it's a LOT faster too!).
