Default EV only

I'm running vzw 4.1 on my 7250. On occasion I get "EV" on the screen without the 1X. Has anyone else gotten this?

I saw it once for a fraction of a second and was wondering what it was.

Then I saw 1xev a few times, which I also wonder what that is.

Since 1x means no data, then what's 1xev, since EV-DO is only used for data.
