BIS and IMAP with a twist

One of the email accounts I added to my BIS account use separate subdomains for sending and receiving mail (ie. imap.server.edu to receive and mail.server.edu to receive) I seem to be able to receive email on this account, but any messages I send "look" like they send, but in fact are never received. I know the IMAP and BIS has been discussed, but this is a little different I think. I did search but didn't find anything like this in the first 3-4 pages of results. I am using Verizon BIS by the way.

Check that your sent emails do not end up filtered as spam by overzealous spam filter.

I've tried sending them to my own domains and others. I have four email accounts on 4 different domains, two of which I control and none of them are coming.

The advanced settings don't offer me any choices other than SSL.

so let me see if i understand the problem. The server you recieve mail from is imap.something.edu and an on traditional mail clients you send the mail through mail.something.edu.

since from your bb you won't be sending your email through the mail.something.edu server i don't understand the issue, have it poll imap.something.edu to get your mail then just edit your "sent from" address to reflect the mail.something.edu address it's possible to have multiple "sent from" addresses that you can change for every email you send

Maybe I am misunderstanding. This is a screenshot of the advanced settings in the account I am referring to. There is no option for Send Using in either the general or advanced setting.

Out of curiosity, which domains are you sending your emails to?

You will find the Sent From in the Edit screen for that account on the main screen, not the Advanced screen. Also, you don't need to worry about the server's SMTP address. When sending from a BIS configured email address on the BB, the BIS sends directly and not from your IMAP server.

If you can explain the details of the problem a bit better, maybe we can help.

Here is the edit screen for this account. There is no Sent From present.

{UPDATE}

It appears that I am receiving the emails now. Not sure what the issue was, but tests as of this afternoon were working. It hasn't been for 3-4 days since I set up the account, but they do seem to be coming now.

Thanks for all the help!!

Sorry, Sent From was part of the old BIS. So, when you send an email using that email address in the BB, it never gets delivered. To ensure the BIS is actually sending from this account, send an email to [email address] - this should be returned as an invalid email account on AOL.

If you get this failure on the BB, then it must be spam filtering on the far end email server. Most servers just toss the message without a failure.

If you still have problems, send me a PIN (in my signature) and I will assist you.

Good to see its resolved. I know VZW was having problems with emails being sent to vzw.blackberry.net - in fact I had to recreate mine as it got corrupted on the RIM servers.
