Hi, i am a newb at the BB, but i have been reading alot of forums. Such as this one, and even howards. I have searched and searched but have had no luck finding any topics on a good way to reformatt to 4.1 OS on my 7100g. I would love some help and some step by stey instrustions on how to go about doing this so i can upgrade.

I am not comp dumby, i know what iam doing wiht comps but i have been reading some of the posts and am a bit nervous with some of the plain instructions so if someone could please help me out or guide me in the right direction i would really appreciate it.

So far i have downloaded teh following:

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7290/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I would say that if you found the site to download your new OS that somewhere on the same site is instructions on installing. And you don't really reformat the way you would a pc. Basically, run the app you downloaded from cingular's website (you might have to unzip it) and follow the on-screen instructions. The setup should wipe your BB and install the new OS

That is actually the vendor.xml file they are talking about that needs to be deleted or renamed. If you downloaded the OS from a different carrier, you need to delete this to be able to load it onto your BB.

I see you have a Cingular US BB. You would need to delete the vendor.xml file if you downloaded the OS from, say, T-Mobile. To delete the file, search your computer for "vendor.xml", delete it, then install the OS on your BB as prompted. This is the easier option. Hope this helps.

Thank you I really appreciate the help, so basically just run the .exe and have my phone connected to my pc, and it does everything else on it own! That is my understanding?
