Default GPRS vs. gprs

I wanted to inquire about the difference when my signal strength will fluctuate from GPRS to gprs through out the day. Recently Cingular has had several instances of data connection refused which all of the time it has shown lowercase gprs. Here is a thread in relation to that:

gprs, data connection refused

I wanted to find out though if the lowercase gprs indicates that I am in a poor connection or about to loose data connection abilities?

Lowercase gprs or edge just means the phone has not connected with the Blackberry network but it still has signal with your service provider. Once it goes capital GPRS or EDGE, the phone has "checked" in with the Blackberry network and downloaded any email or data services.
