Default Changes to computer does not changes messages on BB

Hi -
I'm using BES successfully (sort of successfully). If I delete a message from my handheld, it gets deleted from my Inbox on my computer. But, if I delete a message on my computer (or move the message out of the Inbox to be stored in another folder), then it stays on my handheld. Shouldn't things sync both directions?

Have you set your redirector for "mailbox wins" or "handheld wins"?

In order for email reconciliation to work, you need to go into your message listing on the handheld and go into options, in there will be an email reconcilation option. Make sure delete on is set to Mailbox and Handheld and that email reconcilation option is set to yes. When this is set correctly, any messages which are deleted from outlook will be deleted from the hh and vice versa.

Cheers
Ash

In addition to the tips above, it should also be noted that unless you're also syncing the target folder, if you move an email anywhere other than the trash, the BES won't know where it went, and therefore won't get deleted from the BB. Sounds strange, but that's the way it work.

Another thing to look at is in your inbox on you blackberry, click your scroll wheel go to options. Go to General Options and see if Hide Filed Messages is set to Yes. If not set it to YES.

What happens is when you delete a message it moves from the inbox to the deleted items folder. Same thing when you file any message into a folder. If that option is set to No, the blackberry will continue to show you your messages even if they have been filed somewhere other then your inbox. As a BB admin, this is a setting I do standard on all new bb's. It avoids confusion on the side of the user, who cannot understand why messages are still in there inbox on their bb but not on their desktop.

Also note a good way to keep a message on your blackberry and have it deleted permantently from your inbox is to do a shift + del on the message in your desktop inbox. This will permanently delete it from your desktop but still leave it on your bb.
