Default Hello all...

Please Login to Remove!

New BB7290 user here. This is my first BB, just got it yesterday. All is going good so far but I have a few questions. Hopefully someone here can help out.

What I've done so far:

Installed latest BB desktop software from the T-Mo site. Also installed BB desktop SP1 from blackberry.com. Not really sure if SP1 was necessary...I thought I would add this in case this is causing my problem. I've also installed some basic stuff (messenger client, bblight, some themes).

Problems I'm having:

1)I setup my Yahoo (basic) account on the BB itself first. However, I did receive the message saying my account was setup successfully. I waited hours and still no emails came. I received maybe 10 or so to my inbox in that same time frame. I'm unable to figure out what's going on...

In addition, will I receive only the emails that arrive in my Yahoo inbox?

The reason I ask is because I have a few filters setup on the Yahoo site. So not all new messages are in my inbox. Something tells me the answer is no, but you can't blame me for trying.

Anyway, after waiting a while I assumed *something* was wrong. So, I removed the account using my BB, logged into the T-Mo site and set it up again. Again, I received the message saying the setup was successful. To be extra positive, I sent the service book to my handheld, once again receiving a message telling me the setup was successful. Still no emails coming in.

2)The "Messages" menu seems to be one jumbled mess. What are the best ways to sort this? I'd rather not open it and see all my missed calls, new messages etc. thrown into the same pile. Is there anyway to have to menu showing the different folders pop up by default? Also I noticed after installing the 4.1 BB firmware, my icon for "saved messages" is gone from the home screen. That sucks because that was really helpful. Now I can choose to save a message, but nothing happens when I do. "Nothing" meaning the message doesn't go anywhere, just sits there along with all my other messages. If there's a way to lock messages like on a Motorola, I can do without the saves box. Last, is there a function where you can delete all the messages at once, instead of having to highlight them first?

3)This one isn't a big deal either. I wanted to know if there's a way to create folders on the home screen and place applications inside?

4)How can you change around your bookmarks in the BB browser? I don't see an option presented to move them around, and create folders etc.

I think that's about it for now. Thanks to all that help.

Yes, the email has to initially arrive in your inbox to be forwarded to the BlackBerry.

To prevent calls from being displayed on the Messages screen go to Phone > Options > Call Logging > set to None. Sorry, there is no way to open the Messages ribbon directly at the folder view. To delete multiple messages highlight the date line, press the scroll wheel and choose Delete Prior.

Nope, sorry.

To Create folders, open your bookmarks. Highlight a folder, press the scroll wheel and select Add Subfolder. Now, highlight a bookmark, press scroll wheel and select Move Bookmark.

Thanks. About saving and/or locking the messages, did I do something wrong here? The saved messages option no longer appears on my home screen. Also, installing SP1 shouldn't have made a difference?

I think I figured it out. Though, I could use a little assistance because I'm still confused. Prior to the 4.1 update, when I marked a message as "saved" it would be transferred to the "saved messages" box on my home screen. It would no longer appear with my other messages. Once getting 4.1, this box no longer appears. I'll assume this is normal and everyone using the 4.1 firmware experiences the same thing. Moving on, now when I mark a message as saved, nothing APPEARS to happen. I click the trackwheel, select "view saved messages" and there they are. This is strange for obvious reasons. Marking a message as saved, then seeing it removed when clearing all your messages would give the average person the impression their saved message had been deleted too. So onto another question.

Besides downgrading the firmware, are you able to use the old method of saving messages? In case you haven't noticed, I really like the having a seperate box.

I'm still having problems moving around my BB Browser bookmarks, but I'll edit this post later when I'm able to be more specific. I've also noticed that whenever I want to add an application, the desktop software wants to remove the other applications I've already installed. Thanks for the help so far.

One thing I've noticed with 4.1 is that when you save messages, it leaves a copy in the Messages List which needs to/can be deleted.

Hope this helps

Default Newb...7290. Questions about BB browser bookmarks & messages

Ok, I figured the thing out with the messages. Seems to be all ok there. Now, about the standard bookmarks in the BB web browser...I understand you can't remove these? I would like to remove the "Web Links", "T-Zones", and the "T-Mobile USA" folders. Anyone able to confirm this?
