Preventing email from opening

If I have my 8700 in the holster and a new email comes in, if I take it out of the holster it automatically opens. Is there a way to prevent this?

The only way to prevent the auto opening is to not take the BB out of the holster for 5-7 seconds after the e-mail alert goes off.
