Our IT dept. does not run BB enterprise. Email is checkable using a web front end or via POP (and of course with MS outlook). If I get a BB, will I be able to get mail in real time?

Not immediately, but within 15 minutes or less of receipt on the server.

That seems reasonable. Do you know how I configure the BB to do this?

If it is just for you then you can try to set up a Gmail account and have your e-mails forwarded to Gmail and instantly forwarded to your BB. I use that setup now and have 4 seperate e-mail addys forwarded to Gmail and instantly sent to my 8700.

P.S. Also an Ari fan, but Johnny Drama cracks me up the most.

The Blackberry Internet Service (which comes with the provider's data service) will get your Exchange mail for you, no forwarding to another account needed. Again, there's a 10-15 minute delay.
