Default Handheld Software Reinstallation

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone! I just performed a Handheld Software update on one of our 7230 units but the update failed. To solve this problem, I tried to reinstall the Handheld Software update. Well, easier said than done because every time I try to reinstall the update, the 7230 unit tries to do a standard synch routine. I believe the Desktop Software thinks the handheld is already at the latest version so it does not attempt to reinstall the Handheld Software update.

My question to you all is... do you know how to force a Handheld Software update? Thanks in advance for your help!

Locate and delete "VENDOR.XML" on the C: drive of your PC.
Then restart Desktop Manager. That will force a software check and load.

Default Any more suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it, and unfortunately, it did not work. After I deleted the file, I opened Desktop Manager. The standard synch routine happened, but I was never prompted to update the Handheld Software. Is there another routine I can try? Thanks!

Default Problem Fixed!

Thanks NJBlackberry! I looked-up your suggestion on T-Mobile's website and found this fix:

Reset the handheld using the Application Loader. To reset the handheld using the Application Loader, perform the following steps:

1. Use the Backup and Restore tool to back up the data from your handheld to your computer before proceeding. These steps erase the data on the handheld.

2. In the desktop manager, double-click the Application Loader icon. The Application Loader Wizard window appears.

3. Click Next.

4. In the Handheld Application Selection window, ensure that the appropriate applications are selected, and then click Next.

5. The Completing the Application Loader Wizard appears. Click Advanced.

6. In the Handheld Data Preservation window, select Erase all application data and Erase all currently installed applications, and click Next.

7. Click Finish. The handheld will reset. This might take several minutes.
