Ok, I need some clarification here please. I bought a dead BB 7520 from eBay with water damage. I repaired it and it fired right up but is password locked. The seller is a wholeseller and knows nothing. I read several places where entering the wrong password 10 times will wipe the data and I can start over. Well, I did just that but after the 10th time it powered off and just has a constant red led. It will not connect or anything. What do I do now?

I have done some reading on this and other forums and there is a possibility that it is just taking a long time to wipe. Once completed I am hoping the device fires back up. I will let ya know!

If the device had a password, it may have also been encrypted. An encrypted 8700 took over four hours to wipe, and the 8700's processor is at least three times faster than any other Berry (except the 7130). Give it time.

If after a day it's still dead, see other threads about reviving a dead berry using Javaloader or JL_Cmdr.

You can't get rid of the password without updating the IT Policy. All of the above will NOT change the password requirement. To do that you need to change the IT Policy to not require it.

Well, turns out it was taking a long time to wipe. It went to the "507" screen, allowed connection with the app loader and took the software. All is good.

Sucks, I am the only one with posts in this thread, but tons have read it. I hope it helps someone if they run into the same problem.

Thr newbies just think that responses on this forum are instant, like email is on their BB.

If you need answers that fast, call the carrier and ask for "Wireless data support." Them there you should be able to locate someone with BB knowledge. Even at 3AM Eastern Daylight Time (when most of us were sleeping, since many are U.S. based).

I checked several times and refreshed and Jerry D's comment did not show. I did want fast answers but once I worked through it, rather than waste people's time posting what I had already discovered, I continued to post my findings. I was not aware anyone had posted and as far as instant, I had refreshed several times during the process.

I am here to learn and to help, both. I do not need your sarcasm. Keep it to yourself, please....

I wish I saw this a year ago when my first 7520 displayed the same 507 error. Nextel told me it was dead and had to get a new one. Now I know better.

Service provider's customer assistance know less than any of us do! They are flipping through the pages of a script and manual to help you today and yesterday they were fired for burning the fries again at Mc.....
