Default t-mobile blackberry 19.95 plan?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,

Really thinking about the 8700g. Does anyone use it with T-mobile's 19.95 "blackberry unlimited" plan? If so, I have a couple of questions:

1) Does it permit web browsing using the EDGE system
2) Are you satisfied or does this 19.95 plan lack something that you really thought you were getting? i.e. does T-mobile misrepresent the capabilites of this plan?

Thanks much,

JD

It doesn't include text messaging, so you may want to get that added, as well.

1) Yes.
2) If your company runs a BES and you want to be on it, this plan won't work. It's designed for BIS only. The $30/month plan is for BES.

Please utilize the search button, as things like carriers and rate plans are discussed at length.

JD-
I have the $19.95 plan and am very pleased with it. It allows unlimited web surfing, email with your blackberry and other accounts. One thing to consider - if you are going to use BES ( enterprise server ) at your company or through a hosting service ( check out mailstreet.com ) you will need the $29.95 plan. BES allows real time OTA ( over the air ) sync with all of outlook's functions. The $19.95 only does email but does NOT require a hosting service. I think it's a great plan - and I have always had great luck with T Mobile's tech support.

Thanks for the replies. My company does not use BES, so I plan to set-up Gmail forwarding, which supposedly works decently.

Pizzle mentioned that it doesn't support text messaging at that price level. I read elsewhere that if you use Gtalk, the google chat client, things don't get repackaged as SMS, necessitating charges.

Can anyone comment on whether I have this correct or not?

G-Mail forwarding is fine on the BIS. Flawless in my opinion ;)

SMS is not included in this or any blackberry plan. SMS is an add-on that you have to get seperately.

If you use the built in messenger from .. I think it's RIM but maybe it's T-Mo. But yah, if you use that then you will get charged per message based on your SMS add-on plan.

But you can always get 3rd party software like. Verichat (www.verichat.com) and sign onto msn, aim, icq, and I forget what else it has... but if you use something like that it does not use SMS to message. It's just like a normal chat client via the internet =)

Nevermind. Didn't look hard enough for my answer. Gotta have a voice plan with T-Mo for this 19.95 plan.

My bad

i have the 600mins with free nights and weekends + the $19.99 BIS plan = $59.99

i had to add the "400 any messages" in order to send or receive text messages.

it sounds like you are on the the Blackberry Minutes and Mail plan which does include text messages. It's different in that it includes text messagings, 300 I believe.

ok i just talked with t-mobile. This was bugging me. If you have a current plan and then have the "blackberry unlimited add-on" plan...you do NOT get unlimited text messages. The "blackberry mins and mail" plan which has 1000 mins, and then unlimited everything does include text messages. Its sort of wierd. I was paying 58.98 a month for 600 mins, free nights and weekends and the blackberry add-on plan. I just switched to the other one. I now pay 59.99 a month for unlimited text messages and no free nights and weekends but more anytime mins. I hope this clears stuff up for everyone. Even the person on the phone who i talked to was confused at first
