| EDGE/GPRS not connecting. Montreal Area Please Login to Remove! This can be viewed as a rant... but really it's just asking if anyone else in or around Montreal is having this issue... This is the really shortened version of the problem. Using a 7290 Originally, now a 8700r on Rogers
For the past 3 weeks my GPRS (and now EDGE) is going on and off constantly.
I first noticed it 3 (ish) weeks ago, and I thought it was just me, so I ignored it... but it kept happening. I had asked a friend in the area if she had problems, she said hers is working fine. Finally last Saturday (the 10th, I called Rogers to ask them what's going on. They kept saying nothing and they'd send me a replacement (7290) cause it must be the radio connection (this is after 2+ hours of me trying to fix everything, reinstalling, sim card stuff, everything). The handheld came on Friday (the 16th). I did everything and it worked!... until early Saturday morning, the same thing happened, GSM mode again... driving me nuts. So I called them back, after another 2 hours of me trying everything, i ended up upgrading to the 8700 cause I've had so many issues w/ the 7290 and I was like 'maybe the EDGE will work better'.
Sure enough, got the handheld yesterday and it's STILL stuck in GSM mode. Which means, it's the area network. (When i was in another part of the city it worked fine)
Has anyone else been experiencing this lately? I called yesterday again to voice a complaint and the guy said he'd call me back but so far.... nothing, and it's STILL in GSM mode with the occasional EDGE showing up. I know the guy mentioned the whole network was down yesterday in Montreal, but this is for 3 weeks, not just a day. |
